Privacy Policy

Privacy-first design. Echolex is built so that your audio and transcripts never leave your computer. Transcription happens entirely on your local hardware. We don't have a "cloud copy" of your work, we don't track how you use the app, and we don't profile our customers.

What we collect:

• Email address — used only to deliver your license key, send purchase receipts, and notify you of important updates.
• Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We never see, store, or have access to your credit card number, billing address, or other payment details.
• Anonymous website analytics — Cloudflare may collect aggregate, anonymized data about page visits (no personal identifiers) for security and performance.

What we never touch:

• Your audio files — they remain on your device and are never uploaded.
• Your transcripts — generated locally, stored only on your device.
• In-app behavior — we don't have telemetry monitoring how you use Echolex.

How we handle your data:

• Customer emails are stored by our payment processor (Stripe) and email automation services (Pipedream and Resend) for the purpose of delivering your license and providing support.
• We do not sell, rent, share, or commercialize your email address or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
• We retain your email address as long as your license is active. You may request deletion at any time (see "Your rights" below).
• If we receive a valid legal request (subpoena, court order) for customer data, we will comply with applicable law and notify you when legally permitted.

Cookies: Our website uses minimal cookies — only what's necessary for security and basic analytics. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Your rights:

• Access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
• Erasure — request permanent deletion of your email and license records.
• Portability — request your data in a portable format.
• To exercise any of these rights, email support@smallcraftapp.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.

International transfers: Echolex is operated from Canada. Your email address and license records may be processed by service providers (Stripe, Pipedream, Resend) located in the United States and other countries. These providers maintain industry-standard data protection.

Children: Echolex is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy: If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify customers by email.

Terms of Service

By purchasing or using Echolex, you agree to these Terms.

License & usage.

• Your purchase grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Echolex on your personal Windows devices.
• You may use your license key on one active device at a time. To move to a different device, use the "Deactivate this device" feature in the app's About dialog before activating elsewhere.
• This is a one-time purchase. You receive the full functionality of the app with no recurring fees.
• Free updates are included for the lifetime of version 1.x of the software.

Your responsibilities.

• Lawful use. You are responsible for ensuring you have the legal right or consent to transcribe any audio files you process. Echolex is a tool — how you use it is your responsibility.
• License confidentiality. You agree to keep your license key private. Sharing keys publicly or with unauthorized third parties may result in license revocation without refund.
• No reverse engineering. You agree not to decompile, crack, modify, or attempt to bypass the license verification systems of the software.
• System requirements. Echolex requires Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), 8 GB of RAM recommended, and approximately 2 GB of free disk space. You are responsible for meeting these requirements.

Software performance.

• Echolex is provided "as-is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
• While we use advanced AI models, we do not guarantee 100% transcription accuracy. Results depend on audio quality, accents, and other factors.

Limitation of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Smallcraft is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including data loss, transcription errors, lost profits, or business interruption arising from the use or inability to use Echolex. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for your license.

Termination. We may revoke your license if you breach these Terms. You may stop using Echolex at any time by uninstalling it.

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

Privacy. Your use of Echolex is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

Changes to these Terms. We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date will reflect any changes. Continued use of Echolex after changes constitutes acceptance.

Refund Policy

We want Echolex to genuinely work for you. We offer a 7-day refund window from the date of purchase, subject to the following conditions:

• Refunds are available if you encounter a technical problem that prevents Echolex from running on your computer that we cannot resolve.
• You agree to first contact support so we can attempt to fix the issue.
• Before a refund is processed, you must deactivate the license on all installed devices using the "Deactivate this device" feature in the About dialog.
• Once a refund is issued, the associated license key is no longer valid for use.

Refunds are not available for buyer's-remorse reasons, change of mind, or after the app has been actively used. By purchasing Echolex, you confirm you've reviewed the system requirements, feature list, and these terms before buying.

To request a refund, email support@smallcraftapp.com within 7 days of purchase. Include the email address used at checkout and a brief description of the issue. Refunds are typically processed within 3–5 business days.
